Diplomas are issued when you pass a test in myBruusgaard. This article explains how diplomas work, what they contain, and how to access them.
What is a diploma?
A diploma confirms that you have passed the test for a specific instrument. Diplomas are issued automatically when you pass a test. Courses do not result in a diploma.
Diplomas are sometimes referred to as certificates. In myBruusgaard, the document you receive after passing a test is always called a diploma.
For a full overview of how courses, tests, and diplomas work together, see How training works.
Viewing and downloading your diplomas
Go to Diplomas in the left-hand menu. Each diploma shows the instrument name and its current status.
To download a diploma, click the Download button next to it. The diploma will open as a PDF in a new browser tab. From there, you can use your browser's built-in options to download, print, or save the file.
If you have several diplomas, you can download them all at once using the Download all button at the top of the Diplomas page, instead of downloading them one by one.
Vessel Administrators and Company Administrators can also view and download diplomas for their crew through the user's profile on the People page.
What is shown on the diploma?
Each diploma shows:
Your name
The instrument name
The test date
The expiry date
Position is not displayed on the diploma.
Validity and renewal
Diplomas are valid for three years from the test date. To renew a diploma, simply retake and pass the test. Your diploma will automatically be updated with the new date and a new three-year validity period. Each retake uses one test license.
Your diploma follows you
Diplomas are linked to your personal account, not to a specific vessel. This means you keep your diplomas even if you change vessels or companies. This is why we recommend using a personal email address for your account.
Diplomas from the previous portal
If you previously used an older version of the portal, your diplomas are transferred automatically when you activate your new account. It can take up to one hour after activation for the transfer to complete.
If your diplomas have not appeared after one hour, see Diplomas after migration: where are my records?.
